| You Are My Sunshine My only sunshine. You make me happy When skies are grey. You'll never know, dear, How much I love you. Please don't take my sunshine away. In this case you can take the ray of the sunshine away. At least that one little ray in front of the numbers 25.4 making it a -25.4. Yes, that is what it was when I took the picture. An hour earlier when I got up it was -26.5. | | |
| SPRING??? Did someone say it is spring? Or spring is around the corner! Which corner? After breaking all time snow amount records before the end of February, it has continued to snow every few days. Today another 6-12 is expected. I love to see records broken but how about "warmest spring temperatures ever" or "most 80 degree days in a month" What record would you like to see? | | |

RECORD SNOW - ALMOST Record snowfall for Rockford is 63.4 inches from the winter of 1978-79. When the snow ended Tuesday we had a total for the season of 63.2 inches. Two tenths of an inch away of record snow amounts. But have no fear another 1-4 inches is expected tonight. According to the newspaper, there have been a total of 34 days with measurable snow. Basically that means measurable snowfall has happened every 1 of 3 days this winter. Not counting the days where there were just flurries. (there were many) So when we say it seems like it has snowed every other day we were not far off. The snow bunnies, skiers, snowmobilers, etc. have loved it. The snow plowers have been ecstatic with the money they have made this year. | | |

| We were having an unusual record breaking weather of 63 degrees for January. The previous record high for today was 47. Alicia and the kids are staying the week at our house. It was naptime, about 3:15. Alicia had the window open to her room and heard the siren from Capron the town about a mile away. We would not normally hear the siren but the window was open because of the warm temperatures. We (Bob, Alicia, Wyatt and Judy) went outside to check the clouds to see if there really was a problem. Soon heard the roar and sound like a freight train. It was the sound people describe of tornados. It was a sound that we will never forget. We hurried inside when we heard the noise. Getting the napping girls and waited in the basement. It was in the direction of the trees and hill behind our house so we could not see anything. Later we started to get the news. Edwards Apple orchard was destroyed. (the other side of Route 173 from us) Probably 2 miles from our house. I was talking to a friend in town and her daughter and grandchildren were visiting. Her son in law was home and called them. He was home and was watching the tornado. The tornado continued toward Harvard. I have not heard every thing yet but at least 5 houses were leveled in that area, a freight train in Harvard was derailed. I also heard that Kenosha County was hit badly but I have not yet checked the Milwaukee news. If you would like to check out the local news stations in Rockford, they do have some video clips. http://www.wifr.com/ http://www.wrex.com/ | | |
